Prior to entering the management consulting field, Jeff Hamilton was most recently the Plant Manager at DuPont's (formally FMC Corporation's) carrageenan plant in Rockland Maine. USA.  The Rockland Maine site is the world's largest producer of this food and pharmaceutical additive for the health and nutrition industry. 

Jeff graduated from the University of Maine (USA) in 1982 where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with advanced standings in chemistry, physics, and pulp and paper manufacture.  While at the University of Maine, he held co-operative and summer internship positions at International Paper's mill in Jay, Maine and Boise Cascade's mill in Rumford, Maine.  He is a third generation engineer.

Upon graduation from the University of Maine, he accepted a position with Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, Virginia USA.  In his five years at that location he was a process engineer, paper mill technical assistant, paper machine assistant superintendent and the chemical additives/coating preparation superintendent.  During this time, he attended George Washington University in Washington DC where he studied to obtain a master's degree in Administrative Science specializing in Organizational Design and Behavior.

Form 1987 to 1992, Jeff worked for International Paper at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine USA.  While there, he was a paper machine shift supervisor, paper mill senior department engineer, and paper machine superintendent and department manager.

In 1992 he joined Champion International Corporation's corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut USA.  His role was to execute the post start-up and optimization management activities of one of the world's largest coated paper machines in Quinnesec, Michigan USA.

In 1993 Jeff relocated with Champion International to Bucksport, Maine USA.  In 1996 he became the facilities Operations Manager and Assistant Mill Manager, the position he held for 7 years before becoming the Manager of Technical Services in January 2003.  In November of 2003, Jeff became the Manager of Manufacturing Excellence at that same location.  His activities in this role focused on operational benchmarking, gap analysis, and manufacturing excellence systems development.

In 2004 Jeff joined Sappi Fine Paper North America as the Corporate Director of Manufacturing Services.  In this role, Jeff provided operational and manufacturing support and leadership to the manufacturing facilities of Sappi Fine Paper North America, capital execution and management and knowledge transfer across the organization.  Jeff was involved in strategic execution for SFPNA and a leader and sponsor of several North American and international cross functional teams.  In addition he had responsibility for the Manufacturing Technical Services organization for North America.

In 2012 Jeff joined NewPage Corporation as the Mill Manager of NewPage's Wisconsin Rapids pulp and paper mill in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.  In this role, Jeff had full site responsibility of the operations the USA's third largest integrated pulp and paper mill.  This facility employed over 1000 people and still occupies a footprint nearly 2 miles along the Wisconsin River.

In 2014 Jeff started a management consulting service, Cobbossee Management Consulting, to provide manufacturing clients management and leadership consulting services directed at manufacturing and operational excellence in the process industries.

Jeff joined FMC Corporation in 2015 as production manager of the Rockland plant, a position he held for 3 months prior to becoming the plant manager in November of 2015. 

Jeff is active in many industry professional organizations.  He was the National President of the Paper Industry Management Association (PIMA) in 2005-2006 and PIMA's Board of Directors.  He was member of the International Board of Directors for the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI).  Currently Jeff is a member of the Maine's Pulp and Paper Foundation Executive committee, the Rockport Maine Select Board, and active in the Penobscot Bay Chamber of Commerce and Camden Maine Rotary International Club.

In addition to manufacturing activities, his passions include ocean sailing, downhill skiing, powerboat racing, and playing/collecting guitars.
